Refunds and cancellation
This page explains how to cancel, what we refund, and the one charge that is not ours to refund. Read it with our Terms of Service and the plan fees on our pricing page.

What you are paying us for
Mesara is sold as a subscription in Sri Lankan rupees, billed monthly or annually through PayHere. The fee for your plan is shown on our pricing page and inside the app before you pay. There is no setup fee. The subscription renews automatically until you cancel it.
Section 02
WhatsApp message charges are not ours to refund
People are often surprised by this, so we will say it plainly. Mesara does not bill you for WhatsApp messages and cannot refund them. You attach your own payment method to your own WhatsApp Business Account, and Meta charges that card directly, in US dollars, at its published rates. We take no cut of it and we add no margin to it.
So if you want to dispute a message charge, that dispute is with Meta, through the billing settings on your WhatsApp Business Account. It is not with us, and there is no money of yours sitting with us to return. We will still help: email us and we will go through what was sent, on what dates, and how it maps to Meta's rates, so you know what you are looking at before you raise it. Any spend figure shown inside Mesara is an estimate for your information, not an invoice.
Two bills, two places to ask
Your Mesara plan fee is billed by us in rupees, and this page covers it. Your message charges are billed by Meta in US dollars, and only Meta can refund those.

The free trial
Every plan starts with a 14 day free trial. We ask for your card details when you sign up, because your plan starts on its own when the trial ends. We charge nothing during those 14 days. If you cancel before the trial ends, you pay us nothing and there is nothing to refund. If you do not cancel, the plan you chose is charged for the first time on day 15, at the price shown when you signed up, and renews from there.
Meta is separate, and it is a different card relationship from the one above. To send messages you must attach a card that works for foreign currency payments to your own WhatsApp Business Account, because Meta bills you in US dollars. We check that with you during onboarding. Those message charges are not part of the trial: if you send messages during the 14 days, Meta bills you for them, and section 2 explains why we cannot refund them.

Cancelling
You can cancel at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not cut you off in the middle of a month: you keep your plan until the end of the period you have already paid for, and the subscription ends on that date.
You do not have to give a reason, and nobody will call you to talk you out of it.
- 05
What we refund, and what we do not
Monthly plans.
A monthly fee that has already been paid is not refunded in part. If you cancel halfway through a month, the plan runs to the end of that month rather than being refunded pro rata.
Annual plans.
An annual plan cancelled within 14 days of being charged is refunded in full. After those 14 days, the annual fee is not refunded, and the plan runs to the end of the year you have paid for.
Where we are at fault.
If we have billed you in error, for example a duplicate charge, a charge after you cancelled, or a charge on the wrong plan, we refund it in full. Once we confirm the error we start the refund straight away. It goes back to the original payment method, and how long it takes after that depends on your bank and our payment provider.
Message charges.
Not ours to refund. See section 2.
If we close your account because you broke our Acceptable Use policy, the period you have already paid for is not refunded. This applies to annual plans too, including inside the first 14 days.

How to cancel
Either of these works. Open billing settings in the app and cancel there, or email us at hello@mesara.lk from the address on your account. We answer Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm Sri Lanka time, and we confirm in writing what has been cancelled and the date your plan ends.
- 07
What happens to your data
Cancelling stops the billing. It does not delete your account on its own, so your history is still there if you come back. If you want it removed, close the account or ask us to delete it. Our Data Deletion page sets out what is removed, what we have to keep and for how long, and how long the whole thing takes.
Your WhatsApp Business Account stays yours either way. It is registered to your business with Meta, not to us.
